The Enriched Air Nitrox course is a fascinating look into ways to extend bottom time, reduce No Decompression Limits and extend safety margins. The breathing gas used for SCUBA 50 years ago was primarily air. Our SCUBA cylinders contained approximately 21% Oxygen and 79% Nitrogen. Breathing air worked great, but it had its limitations. However, for the past several decades we've learned that breathing a gas with a higher percentage of Oxygen than standard air would enable us to increase our bottom times, increase safety, reduce decompression times and reduce surface intervals.
In this class, among other things, you will learn how to calculate the best mix of Nitrox for your dive. You will learn the benefits and the limitations with diving Nitrox. You will learn how to safely analyze the mix you are diving, and you will learn how to safely plan and execute that dive with new tables that afford you longer bottom times and larger safety margins.
This class is available at any level in your training, and will benefit every type of diver, from recreational to the very technical.
Note: Several times over the past few weeks people have come to me and said, "Pete most of your course prices are rock bottom, but your Nitrox Course is completely out of line, instructors here do that class for $50." My response is simple. I'm not teaching the same class as they are. One small difference is which agency is teaching the class? Most "recreational" agencies are giving you a 4 hour class packed with half a dozen people. The course doesn't even require any diving. With that said, we are not comparing apples to apples. If you'd like a 4 hour classroom course packed full of people where the subject is glossed over and barely understood, but ultimately results in a small plastic card, then by all means, grab that $50 bargain.
