Underwater Adventures Opening Jellyfish Discovery

Jellyfish, one of the world’s most deadly yet beautiful creatures, are floating gracefully into Underwater Adventures Aquarium at Mall of America to be part of the World’s Largest Jellyfish Collection at Jellyfish Discovery. Jellyfish Discovery, opening Friday, March 19, will be the newest adventure immersing Aquarium guests into a unique one-of-a-kind experience.

The new exhibit will feature several walk-around tanks, which will change colors with music, and a vast mirror landscape will amplify the breathtaking Jellyfish. Some of the Jellies planned for the upcoming display include Moon Jellies, Lion's Mane, Atlantic Sea Nettles, Upside-Down Jellies, and many more. In alignment with the adventure, Seahorse Kingdom, which opened with all farm-raised Seahorses, Jellyfish Discovery will include a conservation area to teach guests how they can be part of Jellyfish conservation efforts.
 
“This spectacular exhibit, a more costly and significant addition than Seahorse Kingdom, will be the second major new addition in two years at Underwater Adventures Aquarium” said Craig Atkins, General Manager at Underwater Adventures Aquarium.  “Seahorse Kingdom opened last Spring, and continues to be a huge hit with guests. Mall of America guests ranked Jellyfish as #1 when asked what new exhibit they wanted to experience most. Now, with the addition of Jellyfish Discovery, the Aquarium continues to offer new and exciting experiences that its guests desire.”

Jellyfish are one of the most complex and delicate sea creatures in the world. Their slow but mesmerizing motion will hypnotize guests with their beauty. Jellyfish are made up of over 95% water, can be found in every ocean in the world, and never stop growing. Being ocean’s deadliest animals, Jellyfish can pack quite a stinging punch too.
